Welcome and hello! I'm Deirdre, botanical artist and founder of Pod & Petal. My background and passion is all things plants, having studied botany and soil ecology, and then spending many years college lecturing before setting up Pod & Petal. I first pressed flowers for a university assessment way back when, and while it would be fair to say I never really relished any assessments, I never would have thought I'd be back pressing flowers many years later, and actually loving it!
What I do...
I specialise in pressing wedding flowers, and love getting bouquets to take apart and press into a new form for brides and grooms to enjoy forever. My style is contemporary, collage style and follow a relaxed styling approach to create totally individual pieces.
Other stuff...
I also create original art using flowers and foliages homegrown in my own garden in North Yorkshire, and/or sourced from local flower farmers. Some original works are professionally photographed by a local photographer and printed as greeting cards or fine art prints, which you can find here.
